The Importance of Regular Grooming for Your Pet

Grooming helps to keep your pet's coat soft and healthy, especially in longer haired pets that can be prone to developing painful clumps and matting. Without routine grooming, your pet could develop matted fur that can be very painful and eventually require shaving to remove. Even if your pet has a shorter coat, regular bathing and grooming can keep the coat healthy and help to protect your pet against skin problems.

Furthermore, grooming is also a great way to keep your pet's ears clean and healthy and have their nails trimmed. This is especially important for pet owners who aren't comfortable with trimming their pets' nails themselves.

Grooming Services Provided at Our Vet

Our vet offers a wide range of grooming services for dogs and cats alike, with prices ranging based on the size of your pet. All of our grooming facilities are climate controlled for your pet's comfort, and when your pet's grooming is complete, he or she will be waiting for you in one of our clean and cozy holding kennels with supervised care and fresh water.

Our grooming services offered include:

  • Baths
  • Hair Cuts
  • De-matting
  • Nail Trimming
  • Ear Cleaning

When your pet comes to us for grooming services, you can always rest assured he or she is in excellent and caring hands. We do our best to maintain a calm and stress-free environment for your pet, but we also offer sedation services as needed (especially for pets needing de-matting). Should your pet require sedation, rest assured that our hospital staff will carefully monitor and supervise your pet while under anesthesia.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat/Dog Grooming

Below are answers to some of our most commonly asked questions about cat and dog grooming.

Why does my cat need grooming services? Don't cats clean themselves?

While cats are known for being very clean pets, they still benefit from professional grooming services from time to time. This is especially true for longer haired cats, who can easily get matted fur. Even in shorter haired cats, however, routine ear cleaning and nail trimming can benefit their overall health and wellness.

What complications can arise from matted fur?

Not only is matted fur painful for your pet, but it can also cause hot spots that become more prone to fungal and even parasitic infections.
